Art Intervention in Common Space

Why Functional Art Matters for Communities In modern towns, public spaces are more than just corridors for movement or places…

Art You Can Touch – The Manifesto

moveart is not just a product. It is a creative idea with a mission to make the world more welcoming while supporting sustainable concepts. Here is the manifesto behind the vision:

▪️ facing the facts

Aesthetic pollution is the dominant image of today’s public space.

Urban transitional zones are typically poorly designed spaces. Objects placed there must be easy to maintain, durable, and ideally made to last forever. Preferably cheap.

However, the individual and societal consequences are unfavorable. Urban transitional zones are boring: they fail to provide a sense of well-being, and are therefore avoided. The lack of social control creates conditions for vandalism and frustrates those who originally wanted to make something positive out of the space.

The problem is that in these types of spatial concepts, people are viewed exclusively as physical beings, not as emotional and spiritual beings.

The design proposal is therefore always tailored to the physical needs of a specific age group. This is wrong, as more than half of the world’s population now lives in cities. Both young and old. The trend is growing. Despite space becoming increasingly difficult to find, people complain about feeling of isolation, loneliness and social exclusion.

▪️ the solution

Public spaces are meeting places. Their task is to solve the problem described above, not support it. If the increasingly scarce space will be designed in a more holistic way, everyone will gain from it.

The new principle must therefore be: when planning public space, people of different ages are seen as emotional, mental, and physical beings who have their needs!
